Hargreaves Memorial Hospital (2006) Ltd. is located at 32 Hargreaves Avenue in the town of Mandeville, Manchester and allows for easy access to all of Mandeville’s attraction, while offering a quiet sanctuary from the clatter and commotion of the town.
Hargreaves Memorial Hospital is a 90 year old institution that has endured and blossomed on the legacy of a group of courageous young women from the Mandeville community who in 1925 formed themselves into a “General Purpose Committee” and pledged themselves to the establishment of a Maternity Hospital. Their determination, strength and fruitful partnerships led to the evolution from a Maternity Hospital to a full service community hospital named in honour of Dr. Hargreaves.
The Hospital flourished and served the people of Central Jamaica well until 2006 when the facility was on the verge of permanent closure due to financial distress. The current owners Calvin and Sylvia Lyn took a leap of faith to save the landmark and rescue it from closure.
